In a parliamentary consultation, Mr. Qadir Ali Nayel said that “the provincial capital was a home for all of us so therefore it was the responsibility of every citizen to play their due role to maintain peace. In the current situation, stakeholders, political and religious parties have to play their imperative role in thwarting the nefarious conspiracies of negative elements for the restoration of durable peace in the area.”
On another occasion Mr. Qadir Ali Nail said that “People from all ethnicities are not only my voters but also my strength. Our [Hazara Democratic Party] policy is to promote brotherhood, peace, and love among the brother nations living together in Quetta”. Following this slogan, he made a speech on the floor of the house discouraging religious extremism, ethnicity and hatred on the basis of identity.
In an interview Mr. Qadir Ali Nayel said that “there are certain elements who use sectarianism as a pretext to destabilize the writ of the state in Quetta”. He said that he will “do his best to bridge the gaps between Hazara and other communities living in Quetta.”
Leadership experience
The Hazara community in Balochistan (Pakistan) has made a great effort to integrate themselves with the local host communities. Mr. Nayel has played his role in uplifting the Hazara through targeted socio-economic community development.
Also, Mr. Nayel believes that an environment of dialogue and tolerance is very important for promoting inclusion and diversity in a society. Through dialogue with the various religious and ethnic groups, Mr. Nayel has tried to promote interfaith and inter-tribe harmony and peace. He has been a part of various discussions amongst various religious groups to keep peace in the province.
Given the persecution the Hazaras have faced based on their religious and ethnic identity, Mr. Nayel has taken the lead and has worked closely with the federal and provincial law enforcement agencies to take measures for the safety and security of the Hazara communities.
