I am Magide Vieira, a Brazilian historian and gender studies researcher, as well as a member of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT). Currently, I serve as the Municipal President of the PT, a member of the PT Women’s State Collective in Rio de Janeiro, and the National Collective of International Relations of PT Youth.
Professionally, I work as a Special Advisor to the Women’s Secretariat of Paracambi (Rio de Janeiro). Previously, I was a Special Advisor at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (ALERJ), where I focused on public policies for youth, expanding access to public education, and strengthening youth political participation.
At the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), I worked in the Office of Extension and Culture, organizing international events on democracy, regional integration, and human rights. Among my key initiatives, I coordinated the political-academic meeting “Democracy and Equality,” held in 2022 by UERJ in partnership with Grupo de Puebla. This event brought together presidents, former presidents, ministers, diplomats, and legislators from 11 countries to discuss progressive policies. Additionally, I led the coordination of the International Seminar “5 Anos de Luta por Marielle e Anderson,” in partnership with the Marielle Franco Institute, and the event “Cartographies of Cultures: Latin American Meeting on Memory, Territory, and Identities,” organized in collaboration with the Escuela de Estudios Latinoamericanos y Globales (ELAG) and the Joaquín Herrera Flores Institute – Latin America (IJHF-AL), both in 2023.
I also had the opportunity to participate in “Manifestate” (2023-2025), a three-year training program as a representative of PT in this regional initiative by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). This program aims to build a network of young political leaders, strengthening democratic, feminist, and progressive values in political work within parties and society at large.
My work is driven by a commitment to social justice, gender equality, youth rights, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. Through my roles in politics, I strive to contribute to a more supportive, ecologically sustainable, just, and democratic future. My journey reflects collective efforts, built alongside many militants and social activists who have dedicated their lives to these values.
