We are pleased to welcome Monica Geingos First Lady of the Republic of Namibia (2015-2024), as a new Club de Madrid Advisor.
Monica Geingos is a distinguished leader, lawyer, and global advocate. For over a decade, as co-shareholder and founding Managing Director of Namibia’s largest private equity fund, she provided strategic leadership, managed the portfolio, and delivered investor returns.
As First Lady of the Republic of Namibia (2015–2024), Ms. Geingos redefined the role by building lasting institutions. She founded and serves as Executive Chairperson of the One Economy Foundation, Namibia’s largest local NGO, and led the development of the #BeFree Youth Campus—an innovative model integrating adolescent health services, including sexual and reproductive health and mental health support, with youth development programmes.
As President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development, she led a successful turnaround strategy and launched the continent-wide #WeAreEqual campaign, which reached more than 650 million people across 37 countries and contributed to a 300% increase in the organisation’s funding.
A globally respected voice on public health, youth development, and gender equality, Ms. Geingos serves as a UNAIDS Special Advocate for Young Women and Adolescent Girls. In 2024, she was appointed as one of four global UN Sustainable Development Goal Advocates for the 2030 Agenda.
We look forward to working together to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
