Since 2001, she has been a member of the Workers’ Party (PT), beginning her political involvement through the labor movement and Base Ecclesial Communities. In 2005, she served as Municipal Press Secretary in Colatina and later became Manager of Solidarity Economy and Microcredit for the Government of the State of Espírito Santo.
From 2019 to 2025, she served as President of the Workers’ Party (PT) in Espírito Santo, becoming the first Black woman to lead the party at the state level and, at the time, the only Black woman serving as a state PT president anywhere in Brazil.
In 2022, she was elected Federal Deputy for the state of Espírito Santo, becoming the first Black woman in the state’s history to be elected to the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. She took office in February 2023 for a term running through 2027.
In the Chamber of Deputies, she serves as General Coordinator of the Women’s Caucus (2025–2027), leads the Women’s Rights Coordination, and sits on the Industry and Commerce, National Integration, and Human Rights, Minorities, and Racial Equality committees.
Her legislative priorities include advancing women’s rights, racial equality, sustainable regional development, and expanding access to high-quality public healthcare and education.
