Ministra de la Condición de la Mujer (2014-2018) | Minister for the Status of Women (2014–2018)
She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Costa Rica and a Master’s degree in Development Economics from the National University, as well as a diploma in Energy and Climate Change from the University for Peace.
With more than 20 years of experience as a parliamentary advisor, she is a member of the Citizens’ Action Party (PAC). She served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica from 2014 to 2018, during which she was Vice President of the Legislative Assembly and chaired the special investigative committee on the Mossack Fonseca case in 2016.
During her legislative term, she promoted landmark legislation including the Animal Welfare Act, the Common-Law Unions Act for same-sex couples, and the Electric Transportation Incentives Act.
From 2018 to 2022, she served as Executive President of the Institute for Municipal Development and Advisory Services (IFAM) and as Minister of the National Women’s Institute (INAMU), where she advanced territorial development and gender equality through local governments.
Her areas of focus include climate change, climate action, decarbonization, urban mobility, local development, and human rights.
