Professor in History, Geography, and Social Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics for Public Policy from Alberto Hurtado University, as well as a Master’s degree in International Politics and Economic Development from Fordham University.
Her political career began in 2007 when she was elected the first woman president of the Student Federation at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV). In 2017, she became a founding member of the Broad Front (Frente Amplio), having previously been a member of the Democratic Revolution (Revolución Democrática) party.
In 2021, she was elected Mayor of Valdivia with the highest vote total in the municipality’s electoral history, becoming the first woman to hold the office. She was re-elected in 2024.
She was elected Vice President of the Chilean Association of Municipalities (ACHM) and President of the Association of Municipalities of the Los Ríos Region.
In May 2025, during the 7th Ibero-American Summit of Local Gender Agendas and the 15th Ibero-American Congress of Municipalists, she was elected President of the Ibero-American Network of Municipalities for Gender Equality (IberGénero UIM) for the 2025–2027 term.
Her work focuses on decentralization, environmental sustainability, territorial planning, gender equality, and diversity.
