Carlos Alvarado Quesada Engages with Guatemala’s Congress on Democracy and Women’s Leadership

As part of Club de Madrid mission to Guatemala, our Member and former President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, visited the Congress of the Republic. During his visit, he participated in a session of the Women’s Commission, chaired by Deputy Sonia Gutiérrez Raguay, alongside Deputies Carolina Cerna, our Member WYDE Elena Sofia Motta Kolleff, and the President of Congress, Nery Ramos.

The meeting, held under the Congress’s open-door policy, provided an important platform for the exchange of regional experiences on human rights, with a particular focus on the role of women in political and democratic life.

This visit highlights the value of dialogue between national and regional leaders in fostering inclusive and representative democracies, reinforcing the Club de Madrid’s commitment to supporting democratic governance and human rights across the region.
