The United Nations Office at Nairobi, the UN headquarters in Africa, was established by the General Assembly in 1996. The office is headed by a Director-General, at the Under-Secretary-General level, serves as the representative office of the Secretary-General in Nairobi and performs representation and liaison functions with permanent missions, the host-country and other Governments, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations in Nairobi, as well as other organizations of the United Nations system in Kenya.
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya is a ministry in the Government of Kenya which oversees the foreign relations of Kenya. The Ministry was established in 1963 after Kenya’s independence. Since independence, Kenyan foreign policy has been designed and guided by the principles of peaceful co-existence, preservation of national security, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, non-alignment, national interest and adherence to the Charters of the United Nations and African Union.

The ImPACT Coalition on International Financial Architecture Reform and Financing for Development (IFA-FfD) is a global initiative established during the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi. It aims to contribute to discussions at the Summit of the Future, focusing on reforming the international financial architecture and improving financing for development, resilience, and climate action. Co-led by Club de Madrid and the Global Public Investment Network, the coalition brings together over 60 civil society organisations and UN Member States. It works to align efforts among various stakeholders to support the UN and the multilateral system in mobilising significant resources for global financial needs.
CIVIC is the World Bank Group (WBG)’s dedicated financing and support facility for civil society organizations, social innovators, and other social economy actors, integrating participatory approaches into broader WBG operations to scale innovative, people-driven solutions for more effective and equitable development outcomes. CIVIC works through networks to connect local solutions to global systems, leveraging the WBG’s convening power with governments, the private sector, civil society and other key stakeholders.
