Khadijah Hawaja Gambo joined activism around 24 years ago. She studied Islam up to postgraduate level and also passed through the traditional way of learning Islam. From 2005 to 2009 she was a teacher of Islamic Studies, and from 2013 and until 2016 she was a political and gender Advisor for the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue(HD). In January 2016, she was appointed as a Commissioner in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry over the 12th -14th December 2015 clashes between the Nigerian Army and the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (Shites Sect).
She is fully involved in countering Violent Extremism, Deradicalization and all other forms of violence through media campaigns, granting interviews, lecture delivery at Seminars, conferences, workshops and symposiums both locally and internationally. She is a member of Sisters Against Violent Extremism (SAVE), and Women Without Borders, all based based in Vienna, Austria. She is one of the three ladies who conducted research for NSRP on “Gender Norms and Female Participation in Radical Movements in Northern Nigeria”. She also belongs to the “Mothers School”, and founded the Muslim Women Peace Forum.
