The Club de Madrid, the world’s largest forum of former Heads of State and Democratic Government, warmly congratulates the Venezuelan people on their presidential elections on October 7 we continue to follow with great interest.We hope that the country will enjoy transparency during this democratic sovereignty exercise. We encourage all Venezuelans to utilize their inalienable right to vote and decide their own destiny through their ballots. A democratic society can only function properly through a continuous process of elections however this right is a celebration of one’s freedom. Citizens and public authorities must however watch against acts intended to deter citizens from voting. Candidates should be elected by the results from the polls so that the country can continue to progress democratically. We are hopeful for a peaceful election process and trust that political parties know to exclude violence in word and action.
