Education:

Rut Diamint graduated from the University of Buenos Aires (Sociology, 1985), received in 1990 a Master Degree in Social Science from Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) and she is a PhD candidate from King´s College, London.

Professional experience:

She is Professor at University Torcuato Di Tella and advisor to the Argentine Ministry of Defense. Also, is a researcher of the “Program Creating Communities in the Americas,” coordinated by Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington. Also she teaches at University of Bologna (Buenos Aires program).

Previously, she was visiting professor at Columbia University, and had scholarships from Fulbright, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, PIF program of Canada government, Tinker Foundation, UN Commission for Peace Studies and US Studies Center for US-Mexican Studies, University of California at San Diego. She served as consultant, of Fundación Arias para la Paz y el Progreso Humano (Costa Rica), PROCIVIL, IADB, the Ford Foundation, and the Washington Office on Latin America.

Other:

Rut Diamint had specialized in civil-military relations, defense issues and peace and democracy. Her latest books are La OTAN y los desafíos en el MERCOSUR, Comunidades de Seguridad y estabilidad democrática (2001) and Democracia y Seguridad en América Latina, published in 2002.
