Strategic Objective: Promote women’s economic independence by addressing structural barriers to their participation in the workforce and advocating for laws that facilitate economic empowerment with special focus in the recognition and support of the care economy.
Description:
Club de Madrid promotes women’s economic independence by addressing structural barriers that limit their participation in the workforce. We advocate for legal frameworks that ensure equal access to economic opportunities, property rights, and financial resources. A key focus of our work is the recognition and support of the care economy: encouraging governments to value and invest in unpaid care work through inclusive policies and public services. In partnership with UN Women, ILO, and AECID, we are supporting country-level initiatives in places like Uganda, Morocco, and Mexico to foster economic systems that empower all women.
- Advancing Gender Equality and Inclusive Opportunities in Armenia
Our work in Armenia towards women’s empowerment is grounded in promoting inclusive labour markets and social entrepreneurship. As part of the EU-funded project EQUAL Armenia (EU 4 Women Empowerment in Armenia), it seeks to foster gender equality and strengthen anti-discrimination frameworks in the country. By working closely with policymakers, civil society organizations, and international partners, this project aims to enhance accountability and ensure that legislative changes translate into tangible improvements in women’s lives.
