Rebecca Joseph Kashindye is a young Tanzanian politician, legal expert, and advocate for youth participation in governance. At 28, she serves as an elected Village Council Member (LGA) for the Manonga Constituency in Igunga District (2024-2029) under the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). Rebecca is also contesting for a position in the Regional Council of UVCCM in Tabora.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, specializing in constitutional law, administrative law, international relations law, humanitarian law, and diplomatic law, providing a solid foundation in governance and public administration.
A passionate advocate for youth empowerment, Rebecca has represented Tanzanian youth at both national and continental policy-making platforms. She is an alumna of prestigious leadership programs, including the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa (2023) and the Uongozi Institute in partnership with AALTO EE (2021/2022).
Rebecca is the founder of Kijana na Siasa (Youth and Politics), a new organization focused on inspiring and educating young Tanzanians about political participation and leadership. Through this platform, she encourages youth engagement in governance for the advancement of national development.
With nine years of leadership experience, Rebecca has worked across public and private sectors, contributing to policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and institutional development. At 23, she led a workforce of over 5,000 employees, demonstrating exceptional leadership and strategic management skills. Her expertise in administration, human resource management, and governance has enabled her to advocate for inclusive policies, youth representation, and public sector efficiency.
Rebecca envisions a future where youth actively shape Tanzania’s governance. She is dedicated to building a more inclusive political landscape, empowering marginalized communities, and promoting youth participation, gender equality, and social justice.
Her ultimate goal is to inspire a generation of leaders who are politically engaged and socially responsible, ensuring that Tanzania’s future reflects diverse voices from all sectors of society.
