Club de Madrid at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4)

As the world confronts rising inequality, mounting climate risks, and a fragmented global financial architecture, the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) offers a vital opportunity to reshape international finance toward equity, resilience, and sustainability.

Club de Madrid, as a leading voice for democratic leadership and multilateral cooperation, will be actively engaged across the week. This includes leading two official side events, co-leading a high-level dinner with Oxfam, and participating in multiple panels and roundtables alongside key actors in global finance reform.

Voices of Leadership: Why We Must Talk About Development Finance Now

As part of Club de Madrid’s participation in FFD4, Members of the organization responded to the question:

Why is it urgent to talk about financing for development today, especially in the light of the decline of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and its impact on the most vulnerable countries?

We invite you to watch this short video featuring reflections from Michelle Bachelet and Moussa Mara

Their insights highlight the moral and strategic imperative to act decisively in reshaping global finance with the needs of the most vulnerable at its core.
