Institutional and Advocacy Mechanisms for Beijing +30

Strategic Objective: Strengthen institutional and advocacy mechanisms to support the goals of the Beijing +30 agenda and promote gender equality globally.

Description:

Club de Madrid is leveraging its global leadership network to strengthen institutional and advocacy efforts that advance the Beijing +30 Agenda. Through high-level engagement, communication campaigns with UN Women, and active participation in the CSW69 process, we are promoting renewed global commitment to gender equality. By organizing side events, launching awareness initiatives, and convening key stakeholders, we aim to accelerate the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action worldwide.

    • CSW69: Advancing Women’s Rights and Political Participation

Our recent participation in the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) comes at a crucial time with the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. With the active participation of our Vicepresident and President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, she emphasized our commitment to gender equality and women’s leadership in the Side Event: 30 Years of Women’s Political Participation, Towards Full Parity. The world has made progress towards women’s rights and political participation, however, CSW69 reminded us of the constant disparities, gender-based violence, and threats to sexual and reproductive rights that persist in many regions.

    • PUBLIC ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN More CommitmentGreaterEquality#: Celebrating Women’s Leadership and Rights

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, on March 8th, Club de Madrid launched a social media campaign titled “More Commitment, Greater Equality” to highlight the organization’s ongoing commitment to women’s rights and gender equality worldwide. The campaign marks key milestones in women’s history and advocacy, stressing on the constant need for governments to keep moving forward in the implementation of international agreements and covenants that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Some important days we have already commemorated as part of this initiative are:

      • May 23rd – International Day for the Elimination of Obstetric Fistula: To mark this important day, Club de Madrid shared an informative video capsule featuring the voice of our Member, former Prime Minister of Senegal Aminata Touré. The content aimed to raise awareness about the impact of obstetric fistula on women’s lives and called for stronger international action, healthcare access, and education to prevent and eliminate this condition.

      • May 24th – International Day of Women for Peace and Disarmament: On this day, Club de Madrid recognized the vital role of women in peacebuilding and disarmament. Through an informative post, the campaign emphasized the historical contributions of women to peace movements, the challenges they face in conflict settings, and the urgent need to include them in shaping a just and gender-equal agenda.
