Ban Ki-moon: “The threats to democracy around the world are all too real”

Ban Ki-moon stresses in this message that “the threats to democracy around the world are all too real”. According to the UN Secretary General, democracy is at stake and therefore every effort must be done, specially by the young people to build inclusive and democratic societies. Exclusion and oppresion of civil society, the loss of freedom, of expression and increasingly restrictive laws are amount the menaces democracy is currently facing and both Club de Madrid and the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights must, under the UNSG point of view, “make clear that there are universal values and principles that governments have tampered on at their peril”
