Club de Madrid and the OECD focus on Cities and Green Growth

The global recession and continued concern over climate change have called into question the ability of the current model for economic growth to foster long-term prosperity. The OECD is currently developing a global Green Growth Strategy that will identify policies and approaches that can shift production and consumption towards a clean, low-carbon and sustainable economy. With the world’s urban population having surpassed the symbolic 50% threshold, cities play an increasingly important role in meeting this challenge.

The Roundtable brought together ministers, mayors, regional and large international companies’ leaders which, together with our Members Esko Aho (Finland), Cassam Uteem (Mauritius) and Kim Campbell (Canada), identified a common policy agenda for cities’ contribution to a global Green Growth Strategy.
