It is with deep sorrow that we have today learned of the tragic accident suffered by fellow Club de Madrid Member Sebastián Piñera, two-time President of Chile from 2010 to 2014 and from 2018 to 2022, who contributed to strengthening the country’s democracy after years of military dictatorship.
As Member of Club de Madrid, President Piñera brought his experience and commitment to democracy to the organisation’s mission, as he did to other institutions in which he actively participated.
The Members and the Secretariat of Club de Madrid extend their heartfelt sympathy and condolences to President Piñera’s family, friends and to all Chileans in this moment of sorrow. We were proud and privileged to have worked with him in pursuit of the well-being of citizens across the globe.
