Club de Madrid Warns Against Escalation Following Iran’s Attack on Israel

Club de Madrid strongly condemns the recent attack launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran on Israel, involving over 300 drones and missiles. Echoing UN Secretary-General António Guterres, we are deeply alarmed by the potential for a devastating regional escalation and the grave implications for global stability. We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further violence and avoid a broader military confrontation in the Middle East in light of the already tense situation between Israel and Palestine. We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further violence and avoid a broader military confrontation in the Middle East in light of the already tense situation between Israel and Palestine. We continue to be deeply concerned about the ongoing military action affecting the civilian population in Gaza and the deepening humanitarian disaster resulting from this action. Humanitarian cease-fire continues to be the first priority. The international community must prioritise diplomatic engagement to ensure that a regional conflict does not occur and move rapidly towards a two-state solution.
