Club de Madrid welcomes Yasuo Fukuda as its 79th member

Mr. Fukuda, son of the late former Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda, served during 2007 and 2008. Elected for the first time to the Japanese House of Representatives in 1990, he held various positions within the highest political spheres before becoming Prime Minister, including Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Deputy Director of the Liberal Democratic Party and Chief Cabinet Secretary to Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori. He became Prime Minister in September 2007 but resigned a year later. He currently still sits in the lower house of the Diet.
