The discussions were around whether a democratic system is the best guarantee for the sustainable management of natural resources, and which are the best examples that prove this. This will be analyzed in each region of the world during the Track 3 ongoing analysis of the project Next Generation Democracy.
The World Resources Institute, Institut du Développement Durable et des Relations Internationales (IDDRI), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and a former representative from UNDP and UNEP; together with experts from Partnership for Change were the participants of the interesting discussions.
This gathering has served to discuss on the preparations for the next Club de Madrid Policy Dialogue to be organised in Minnesota on 26-27 October – Democracy in a Sustainable Future, which will be focussed on how Democracy best contributes to the good governance of Natural Resources and Environmental Problems.
