The former Prime Minister of Canada focussed on meeting government officials, Parliamentarians, CSOs, and EU to discuss the role of media in inclusive and shared societies and how could the change in the media law, that is currently being discussed in Kyrgyzstan, can help the country in the pursue for a more inclusive society for ethnic minority groups. The need to give them more voice in the political process has been another relevant point of the discussions.
PM Campbell`s agenda included meetings with Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, Raev Sultan; with the Director of the State Agency for Local Self-Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kasiev Naken. or the deputy Head of the EU Delegation, Ognyan Champoev, among others.
PM Campbell also shared the Canadian experience in forming inclusive society and engaging different ethnic groups, and the work the Club de Madrid has been developing during the last seven years on how to build Shared Societies.
