Statement on the situation of Southern Lebanon

The conflict in southern Lebanon highlights the fragility of peace and democracy in the region. As violence escalates, the protection of civilians and upholding international law is critical.

Club de Madrid urges all parties to avoid escalation, recommit to Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), and immediately return to a cessation of hostilities.

We call on international actors to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to find a peaceful solution, safeguarding stability and respecting human rights.
