João Kanda Bernardo was born on April 3, 1990, in Luanda.

He has an Alma Mater from Leipzig University, Germany, in African Studies and Alma Mater from FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany, in Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology. He is an alumni of the Transparency International School on Integrity, Mykolas Romeris University.

João Kanda Bernardo is a Former United Nations Fellow for Human Rights at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.

Since September 2019, an Ambassador for Peace named by Universal Peace Federation, an NGO in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Since September 2022, a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Angola, National Constituency, UNITA Parliamentary Group.

Secretary of the Commission on Human Rights, Petitions, Complaints and Suggestions of Citizens of the Angolan Parliament.

Secretary of the National Monitoring Group of the National Parliament for International Organizations: United Nations and its specialised agencies, Interpol, World Bank, IMF, G20, BRICS, RIO+, BEIJING+ and MERCOSUR. the Founder and President of the Humanitarian Organization Kanda-Initiative, in Angola.

Secretary of the Presidency of the UNITA Party (main Opposition Party in Angola) for Multilateral Organizations and Peace and Security Policies. Member of the National Committee of the UNITA Youth Organization

WYDE Civic Engagement Network of Young Decision-Makers brings together a group of exceptional young leaders under 36 years old who are active in politics and in decision-making bodies and who have already reached positions of influence from which they can advocate for greater youth political participation.
