The INSPIRED (Integrated Support Programme for Inclusive Reform and Democratic Dialogue) project is currently undergoing in the Kygyzstan capital, Bishkek, under the lead of former President of Serbia and Club de Madrid Member, Boris Tadic. The activities and meetings are centered on the promotion of an inclusive media policy responding to the needs of ethnic minorities in the transition to digital broadcasting of the Kyrgyz Republic by 2015.
The purpose of the Club de Madrid high level mission is to foster the implementation of the recommendations and results of the project, which aims at creating an inclusive Kyrgyz audiovisual product that meets new challenges in connection with expanding the technical capabilities of digital broadcasting. The guidelines were developed with the support of INSPIRED through extensive multi-stakeholder dialogue between the representatives of civil society, broadcasters, journalists, Government Office, deputies of Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic and international organizations.
During the mission Club de Madrid delegation is having bilateral and roundtable meetings. Mr. Tadic met today with Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhoomart Otorbaev and the Head of the EU Delegation in Kyrgyzstan Ambassador Cesare de Montis. President Tadic also held roundtables to discuss actual problems of transition to digital broadcasting in Kyrgyzstan with Jogorku Kenescha KR, public and business organizations., Club de Madrid Member and former Kyrgyzstan President Roza Otunbayeva, Minister and deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism.
INSPIRED is a project funded by the European Commision with the Club de Madrid and NIMD as partner organizations. It aims to achieve a culture of dialogue and trust and to contribute to the development of national roadmaps for political and institutional reform. INSPIRED operates in five countries: Moldavia, Kyrgystan, Tunisia, Ghana and Morocco.
