The Shared Societies principles & the Post-2015 Development Agenda

During the last months, the Club de Madrid has been following very closely the Post-2015 Development Agenda Process and the design of the Sustainable Development Goals. Within this process we have been advocating for the Shared Societies Principles and we are pleased to see that there are many references to “inclusion” in the recent outcome document of the Open Working Group of United Nations. In this regard, the Co-Chairs of the Shared Societies Project have made public a Response from the Shared Societies Project to this Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals Outcome Document. Click here to download the public response.

The Club de Madrid is supportive of the progress that has been made to date and we urge the Member states during the next stage of the process to protect what has been achieved.  As the Proposals says, “These goals constitute an integrated, inclusive set of global priorities for sustainable development“, within which we can see a commitment to building a Shared Society and a shared future in which no one is left behind. Moreover, we are very pleased to see Goal 16 including “peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”.
