Read the final statement from ISIF 2019
The 2019 Imperial Springs International Forum was held on December 1st and 2nd, themed “Multilateralism and Sustainable Development.” The Forum was co-hosted by the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association (ACFEA), the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, and the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid. Attending the Forum were 70 guests, including 30 former heads of state and government, leaders of international organizations, along with 40 foreign friends, experts, scholars, and business elites.
Attending the opening ceremony were
Mr. Wang Qishan, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, who delivered the keynote speech.
Mr. Li Xi, Secretary of the CPC Provincial Committee of Guangdong, who addressed the Forum.
Madam Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, who chaired the opening ceremony.
Mr. Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong Province.
Madam Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Latvia and President of the World Leadership Alliance – Club de Madrid.
Dr. Chau Chak Wing, President of the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association.
Four break-out sessions were organized to discuss four themes:
“Multilateralism at a Crossroads”
“Agenda 2030 as a Driver of a Renewed Multilateralism”
“Climate in Multilateral Mode – The Paris Agreement”
“Global Governance – New Concepts and New Measures”
The Forum concluded on Dec 2nd. A statement was released at the closing ceremony, called for enhancing multilateralism and global cooperation, advancing the achievement of a renewed international order, and contributing to building and securing “The Future We Want.”
Meeting with Xi Jinping
On December 3rd, His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, met the foreign participants of the 2019 ISIF in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.President Xi said upholding the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the fundamental reason why the People’s Republic of China had achieved continuous development and stability over the past 70 years.
Speaking at that meeting were Madam Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Latvia, and Dr. Chau Chak Wing, President of the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, and Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
