On this occasion Prime Minister Brundtland was part of this discussion with Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky, Senior Vice President and Head of Government Affairs for Thomson Reuters, the Honorable Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action, and Dr. CS Kiang, Chairman of the Sustainable Development Technology Foundation of Beijing.
During the Panel Gro Harlem Brundtland said that in her opinion, “the United Nations system is the only place, the only forum where you can forge a global agreement. (…) There is no other institution that can make a better agreement”. She also confirmed that she agreed with the European Commissioner for Climate Action, that “Europe for years has led the fight against climate change, and without Europe, we would not be where we are.”
