Three leaders from the Network of Young Decision-Makers joined Club de Madrid´s delegation in NY on the margins of The UN General Assembly (UNGA) 2023 during the 21 and 22 of September. They held different meetings and participated in various planned activities that week.
On September 21 and 22, three Young Decision-Makers from the WYDE Network, Emma Theofelus, Camila Carrasco, and João Kanda Bernardo, played pivotal roles within Club de Madrid’s delegation to the 2023 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Their dedicated contributions reinforced the importance of involving young voices in shaping a more equitable and sustainable global future.
They participated in key Club de Madrid side events at UNGA, such as the High-level Segment of outcomes and follow-up of the SDG Summit towards the World Social Summit and discussions on rethinking social development for economic transformation, climate change, and social inclusion. Where they had the opportunity to interact with senior representatives from UN Institutions, Member State Ambassadors, key international organizations, and civil society.
In addition, they actively engaged in a series of meetings with distinguished individuals across various fields. These included the UN Youth Envoy Office, Dr Fernand de Varennes, UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, Barbara Stocking, Chair of the Panel for a Global Public Health Convention, and Members of Club de Madrid President Elbegdorj and President Türk. This discussion encompassed various vital topics, from youth involvement and minority rights to public health, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
