INSPIRED-Moldova to address the challenges and opportunities of the Free Trade Agreement with the EU

The  The main objectives of the mission are:

  • Raise awareness among high level decision makers about the need of consulting relevant stakeholders within DCFTA roadmaps elaboration;
  • Encourage state institutions to benefit on EEF support in elaboration of DCFTA roadmap;
  • Promote the benefits of EU integration process 

The high level mission will work on promoting dialogue to foster a broad agreement to stablish a roadmap for the implementation of the Moldova Strategy 2020. With this purpose the visit also includes encounters with the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Corman ; leaders of political parties from the Pro European Coalition and the leaders of the Party of Communists (opposition) as well as encounters with Civil Society Organizations representatives. A panell discussion with students of the faculty of International Relations and Political Science of the State University of Moldova under the topic « Towards the Eu. Experience of Poland, Albania and Serbia » is also on the agenda.

The INSPIRED project (Integrated Support Programme for Inclusive Reform and Democratic Dialogue) is an EU funded project where the Club de Madrid is one of the leading partners in the project in coordination with the local partner, East Europe Foundation (EEF)

Overall, 50 key stakeholders in the process of implementation of the EU-Moldova Free Trade Agreement and the connected priorities of the Moldova 2020 National Development Strategy have participated in the INSPIRED policy dialogue events since September 2012, thus making it the widest and most representative format of policy dialogue regarding the DCFTA and the Moldova 2020 Strategy in Moldova.

The Club de Madrid is an independent non-profit organization composed of more than 90 former presidents and prime ministers from 60 democratic countries. The Club de Madrid responds to a growing demand for support from leaders to address a number of challenges in democratic governance by providing experience and expertise valuable leadership of its members.

East Europe Foundation (www.eef.md) was established as a Moldovan foundation in November 2009 and started its operations in June 2010. The mission of the East Europe Foundation is to empower Moldovan citizens and foster sustainable development through education and technical assistance programs that promote democracy, foster good governance and build economic prosperity.
