In the framework of our Annual Policy Dialogue 2023, we organised the first in-person Policy Lab of the Network. Seventeen members of the Network actively participated in various sessions, including intergenerational sessions and roundtables with Members Chinchilla, Jomaa, Mara, Sagasti and Türk all of whom shared invaluable insights on the pivotal role of empowering youth in democratic processes. The Policy Lab was a collaborative exchange where these leaders delved into discussions on critical global challenges, fostering connections that transcended borders.
The event’s highlights revolved around an intergenerational dialogue with active participation from Club de Madrid Members—former democratic heads of state and government. The exchange of guidance from older generations and the quest for wisdom from younger generations celebrated diversity, strengthened intergenerational relationships, and worked towards closing the generation gap. This unique blend of perspectives added a layer of depth and significance to the overall conversation, making it a compelling and enriching experience for all involved.
The young leaders successfully concluded a comprehensive process by formulating concrete policy recommendations in the context of Club de Madrid Annual Policy Dialogue 2023: ‘Rethinking Social Development for People and Planet.’ Beyond mere ideas, these were tangible contributions, embodying actionable strategies that underscored the strength of collaboration and the united dedication of these decision-makers. Stepping into the limelight, they seized the opportunity to showcase their expertise at the Club de Madrid’s Annual Policy Dialogue, presenting these well-crafted recommendations in several sessions.
Now, the focus of the Network will shift to advocacy plans for 2024, aiming to push for the implementation of these recommendations and drive positive change.
