The Global Education & Skills Forum is the leading multi-stakeholder education event bringing together leaders from the Public, Private and Social sectors together to address how we can deliver on the promise of education, equity and employment for all. Other Club de Madrid Members to be actively participating include, John Bruton (former PM of Ireland), Luis Alberto Lacalle, (former President of Uruguay), Zlatko Lagumdzija (former PM of Bosnia & Herzegovina), James Mancham (former President of the Seychelles), Roza Otunbayeva (former President of Kyrgyzstan) and Cassam Uteem (former President of Mauritius) and Ousegun Obasanjo (former President of Nigeria)
During these two days of discussion leaders from the public, voluntary, and private sectors will meet with a view of providing prominence to solutions that answer the ‘HOW?’ question. Through this engagement we can begin working more effectively towards a better-educated and more equitable society on a worldwide scale. Former Heads of State will discuss the political will and leadership needed to implement lasting education reforms based on their experience with reform.
The Club de Madrid Members will be particularly active in the Plenary Session and in two relevant panels: “The Learners under attack. How can we protect our schools?” (sunday 15th) and “Political Will and Leadership” (Monday 16th)
One of the highlights of the event will be the Global Teacher Prize Award ceremony presented by Club de Madrid Honorary Member, Bill Clinton, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Leading journalist Tareek Zakaria (CNN) and Kate Silverton (BBC) will moderate this gala dinner.
